YEAR A

Autumn

Lights, Camera, Action:  To introduce the topic of Lights, Camera, Action the teachers will be producing a show using lots of the staging equipment. The children will be learning about the history of film and how films have developed over a 100 years.

 

Spring  

Time Travellers :

Year 1 will be focusing on the history of dinosaurs. The children will turn into archaeologists as they investigate what dinosaur footprints were like and how big they were. They will also be creating their very own dinosaur island using different forms of materials.

Year 2 will be focusing on the history of Tudors and Romans. During the first part of the topic, the children will be looking where Tudors lived, Tudor Royalty and how important Henry VIII was during the Tudor Period. Year 2 will then move on to exploring the importance of Roman Empire, how important Roman art was, as well as discovering facts about Roman Gods.

 

Summer

Jet, Set, Go: Year 1 and 2 will take the focus of two different continents. They will explore the culture behind the continents and compare similarities and differences between the two. The children will then share their findings through a presentation in a whole school assembly.

 

YEAR B

Autumn

The Olympics: Year 1 and 2 will be learning about the history of the Olympics. They will explore sports in the past and how the Olympics have developed over time. The children will create their own mini Olympics and they will even get chance to question a Paralympian who has competed at the games.

It’s a Toy Story. Children will be using design and technology to create their own toys. They will explore computing and use decoding to create a game on the Ipads.
